Group Therapy (G-TEP)

EMDR Group Therapy
Kāpiti EMDR Centre is now offering group therapy, using the evidence-based EMDR group protocol G-TEP (Group Traumatic Episode Protocol).

We are currently offering this group to participants with existing approved ACC claims (Sensitive Claims).

We are also available to offer the group in private or NGO settings. We are also available to offer G-TEP to groups of private individuals. If you are interested in participating in an EMDR therapy group, or hosting a group through an NGO, please email kapitiemdr@gmail.com to enquire.

Group Therapy FAQs
How many participants?
We can run a group with 4-10 participants.

How many sessions?
Each group goes for three sessions, consisting of 2 hours per session. There are three facilitators for the process.

What are the benefits of group EMDR?
Group EMDR has been shown to reduce distress and PTSD symptoms around a traumatic event.

Is it confidential?
The group EMDR process is set up so that each participant can process a traumatic event. Each participant may be reprocessing a completely individual event, and the other participants do not know what others are reprocessing.

How much does a group therapy session cost?
At this time, we are running fully subsidized groups for survivors of sexual trauma with ACC. Please enquire for details if you are interested in hosting a group via your NGO.
