Frequently Asked Questions
Group EMDR has been shown to reduce distress and PTSD symptoms from a recent or historical traumatic event. In addition to EMDR, participants will also gain grounding and stabilisation techniques to take into future challenging situations.
While it may take 8-12 individual EMDR sessions for one traumatic event to be reprocessed, the intensive-style longer group sessions allow for an accelerated process over 3 group sessions.
Our Part One groups focus on stabilisation, grounding and preparation for two reprocessing sessions.
Our Part Two groups consist of two reprocessing sessions and a future-focussed session to prepare you for future challenges, and building resilience and confidence in your strengths and resources.
There is an online option by prior approval. Please contact Group EMDR Aotearoa to inquire.
We can run groups for organisations, schools, family/whānau or small private groups. If your whānau has had a recent trauma event, or at your workplace or school, we may be able to help. Please contact us to inquire further.
